Green Building and Energy Conservation: The Talk, Practice and Performance

September 13-14, 2007
Hyatt Regency, Hangzhou, China

Challenged by the environmental impact of the country's rapid development of urbanization and industrialization, China has launched ambitious plans to make its buildings greener and more energy-efficient.  In particular, energy conservation has been set as a top priority in China’s 11th Five-Year-Plan (2006 - 2010).  New standards and technical guidelines have also been introduced nationwide and are showing their impact.

Organized by McGraw-Hill Construction, the world's leading construction information & media service provider, Green Building and Energy Conservation: The Talk, Practice and Performance will gather Green Building thought leaders and practitioners in China and abroad to share their experience, challenges and solutions.  The speakers will discuss

  • How to move beyond single building construction to the creation of Green Communities, and why that's important for China?
  • What do owners of commercial and residential projects view their Green Buildings' performance?
  • What products and technology have really worked?
  • And, from standard setting to enforcement, what can we learn across the countries or regions?

We aim to draw experiences from real-life projects so there will be plenty of practical ideas that people can take home and apply to work. The entire conference will be delivered in live, TV-talk show style panel discussion and translated to English and Chinese simultaneously, to ensure the audience gets most of the insights from our guest speakers.

The event has gain tremendous support from the provincial and local government of our host city, Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province, China's largest, and one of the most vibrant construction markets.  The conference is co-organized by Zhejiang Province Green Building and Energy Saving Leading Office, and supported by the World Green Building Council, U.S. Green Building Council and the National Association of Home Builders of U.S.A.. 200 architects, contractors, engineers, product manufacturers, service providers and policy makers from China and abroad are expected to participate.
